装いにおけるバランスを考える上での最も重要なポイントが、「ドレス」と「カジュアル（スポーツ）」と言う2軸と「クラシック」と「モード」の2軸を掛け合わせた4象限です。横軸（X軸）に「ドレス」と「カジュアル（スポーツ）」、縦軸（Y軸）に「クラシック」と「モード」を置くと、大凡全ての装いにおけるスタイルのポジショニングが視覚化されます。

当然ですが、装いに用いるアイテムの全てが、どこか1つの象限に入っている方が全体としてもバランスはとりやすくなります。例えば、「クラシック」かつ「ドレス」的なアイテムで装いますと、まとまりやすくなりますが、どこか一つに「ドレス」的だけれど、「モード」のアイテムを用いますと、バランスがとりにくくなる。正確には、よりセンスが求められることになるわけです。
Naturally, it is easier to be in harmony the whole item if it is in one quadrant of all the items used for attire. For example, if you dress with only “Classic” and “Dress” items, it will be easier to organize, but if you mixed with “Mode” items it will be difficult to be in harmony. To be precise, more good sense is required.
なお、個人的には上記4象限の中でも「ドレス」と「カジュアル」の2つがバランスを整える上では特に重要だと考えています。

上述した装いの構成要素である「色」や「柄」、「素材」「組み合わせ」、「仕立て」の各要素について、何が「ドレス」的で、何が「カジュアル」的なものなのか。どれくらい「ドレス」的なのか、「カジュアル」的なのか。これらを判断するための知識を頭に入れることが出来れば、意図的に行うことを除いて、「ドレス」的なものと「カジュアル」的なものをごちゃまぜにして装うこと、つまり、バランスを崩した装いをすることが無くなると考えています。

そのような観点で言いますと、装いと言うのは「ドレス」的なものは「ドレス」的なものでまとめるとバランスが良くなりますし、「カジュアル」的なものは「カジュアル」的なものでまとめた方がバランスが良くなります。つまり、「ドレス」と「カジュアル」のレベル感を合わせてあげることが、私が言うところの、装いとしてのバランスをとると意味になります。
From that point of view, to combine the items with the same characters can be easier to be in harmony . For example, a dress item is matched with a dress item. Match casual items with casual items. That is, matching the level of “dress” and “casual” means, in my opinion, balancing the attire.
なお、「ドレス」と「カジュアル」に加えて「フォーマル」と言う軸もありますが、私は「ドレス」における最上級のドレス度を誇る装いが「フォーマル」であると理解しており、現在のビジネスや日常シーンにおいて「美しく装う」と言う目的を達成するにあたっては「フォーマル」を考慮する必要性は少ないと考えておりますので、横軸（X軸）の取り方は「ドレス」と「カジュアル」で十分だと思っています。
There is also an axis called “formal” in addition to “dress” and “casual”, but I understand that the dress that boasts the highest dress level in “dress” is “formal”.
