This article explains how to make beautiful double dimples.
- まずは、ネクタイを首に掛けます。この時、右手側に小剣、左手側に大剣がくるようにします。
Wrap the tie around the back of your neck with the narrow end on the right side of your body and the wide end on the left side.
- 身長やネクタイの長さによって異なりますが、身長170㎝前後で、長さが145㎝前後のネクタイの場合は、小剣がウエスト位置にかかるか、かからないか位のところに調整しておくと、ちょうど良い長さになります。
The narrow end of the tie should be around the height of your waist or a little higher. It may need to adjusted for personal height.
- 大剣側を小剣の上にクロスさせます。
Take the wide end and cross it over the narrow end.
- クロスさせた大剣は、小剣の裏を通して左手側に持って行きます。
Wrap wide end under the narrow end, so that it points to the left.
- 小剣の裏を通した大剣を、今度は小剣の上からクロスさせます。
Wrap wide end over the narrow end.
- クロスさせた大剣をネクタイの裏側に回して、穴から前側に引き出します。
Pull the wide end up through the neck loop.
- 引き出した大剣を、ステップ「5」でつくったループの中に入れて、下から引き出します。
Pull the wide end down through the wrap you created in step 「5」.
ここまでは、プレーンノットをつくる手順になります。これからダブルディンプルをつくる手順を説明します。
Up to this point, the procedure is to create a Plain knot（Four-in-hand Knot）. The procedure for how to creating a double dimples is described below.
- まず、大剣を山折にします。
First, make a wide side into a mountain fold.
- 次に大剣の両サイドを持ち上げて、Wの文字をつくります。
Next, lift both sides of the wide side and make the letter 「W」.
- そのまま下に引っ張って、ノットをしめます。
Pull it down and tighten the knot.
- ポイントは、ノットを引き上げる前にダブルディンプルの形を整えておくことです。
The point is to arrange the shape of the double dimples before pulling up the knot.
- ノットを持ち、小剣を下に引きながらノットを引き上げてネクタイをしめます。
Up on the knot, and tighten the neck loop by pulling down on the narrow end of the tie and sliding the knot up toward your neck.
- 最後は、ダブルディンプル及びノットの形を整えたら完成です。
Finally, adjusting for dimple’s shape and size of knot, it is completed.
- ご覧の通り、美しいダブルディンプルが出来上がりました。
As you can see, a beautiful double dimples have been created.
