This article explains how to make a beautiful asymmetry dimple.
- まずは、ネクタイを首に掛けます。この時、右手側に小剣、左手側に大剣がくるようにします。
Wrap the tie around the back of your neck with the narrow end on the right side of your body and the wide end on the left side.
- 大剣側を小剣の上にクロスさせます。
Take the wide end and cross it over the narrow end.
- クロスさせた大剣は、小剣の裏を通して左手側に持って行きます。
Wrap wide end under the narrow end, so that it points to the left.
- 小剣の裏を通した大剣を、今度は小剣の上からクロスさせます。
Wrap wide end over the narrow end.
- クロスさせた大剣をネクタイの裏側に回して、穴から前側に引き出します。
Pull the wide end up through the neck loop.
- 引き出した大剣を、ステップ「4」でつくったループの中に入れて、下から引き出します。
Pull the active end down through the wrap you created in step 「4」.
ここまでは、プレーンノットをつくる手順になります。これからアシンメトリーディンプルをつくる手順を説明します。
Up to this point, the procedure is to create a Plain knot（Four in Hand knot）. The procedure for how to creating an asymmetry dimple is described below.
- まず、大剣側の片方の端を持ち、折り込みます。
First, hold one end of the wide side into valley fold.
- こんなイメージです。
Valley fold is a way to fold like the picture below.
- 端を持ったまま下に引っ張って、ノットをしめます。
Pull it down with holding the edge and tighten the knot.
- ポイントは、ノットを引き上げる前にアシンメトリーディンプルの形を整えておくことです。
The point is to arrange the shape of the asymmetry dimple before pulling up the knot.
- ノットを持ち、小剣を下に引きながらノットを引き上げてネクタイをしめます。
Up on the knot, and tighten the neck loop by pulling down on the narrow end of the tie and sliding the knot up toward your neck.
- 最後にアシンメトリーディンプル及びノットの形を整え、小剣を少しずらしたら完成です。
Finally, adjusting for dimple’s shape and size of knot, also slide the narrow side a little, it is completed.
- ご覧の通り、美しいアシンメトリーディンプルが出来上がりました。
As you can see, a beautiful asymmetry dimple have been created.
アシンメトリーディンプルはややカジュアルなディンプルなので、スーツスタイルよりは、ジャケパンスタイルの方が合うと思っています。なお、小剣をずらすのは必須ではないので、好みに合わせて調整してみてください。
An asymmetry dimple is somewhat casual dimple, so I think Jacket style is more suitable than suit style. By the way, it is not necessary to slide the narrow side, so adjust it to your liking.
