今日は「靴の色は何を基準に決めるべきか」と言うテーマを掲げて、コラムをお送りしたいと思います。
Today, I would like to write a column on the theme of “How to select shoe color”. And in this article, I consider about the criteria to use when choosing shoe colors.

これらの記事の内容を踏まえた上で結論から記述しますと、私はネクタイの色を基準に靴の色を決めています。
Based on the content of these articles, and from the conclusion, I decide the color of the shoes based on the color of the tie.
具体的には、ネクタイがネイビーやグレーであればブラックの靴。ネクタイの色がベージュやブラウンであればブラウンの靴と言った具合です。
Specifically, I select black shoes if I use a navy or gray tie. And if the color of the tie is beige or brown, I select a brown shoes.
メンズドレスファッションにおいてネイビーやグレーはドレスカラーに該当するため、これに合わせて合わせる靴の色もドレス（フォーマル）カラーであるブラックを選び、カジュアルカラーであるベージュやブラウンのネクタイを選んだ際には、これに合わせて靴もブラウンを選んでいます。
In the gentlemen’s dress fashion, navy and gray are the dress color, so if I use those color for ties, choose the dress (formal) color black for shoes. And if I use the casual color beige or brown tie, I’ll select brown color for shoes.
もちろん合わせるスーツやジャケット、ネクタイの色、柄、素材によっては例外もあるのですが、基本的な考え方は上述した通り、ネクタイの色のドレス度に合わせて靴の色を決めているのです。
Of course, there are exceptions depending on the color, pattern and material used for suit, and jacket, tie, but as mentioned above, the basic idea is to decide the color of the shoes according to the tie color.
- なぜネクタイの色を基準に靴の色を決めるのか/Why decide the color of shoes based on the tie color?
装いにおける難しさ、奥深さの１つを挙げるとしたら、装いはアイテム単独では成立せず、色や柄、素材、デザインなどの要素が互いに影響をしあい、装い全体で1つのファッションとして成立する点にあると考えています。
I think one of the difficulties and depths of dressing is that attire is not made up of items alone, but elements such as color, pattern, material, and design affect each other, and the whole attire is made up as one fashion.
そして私は装い全体でバランスを整えることが、美しい装いをする際の重要な要件だと考えています。
And I believe that balancing the whole attire is an important requirement for a beautiful attire.
そのような事を踏まえると、メンズドレスファッションにおいて人に印象を与える最も大きなポイントは、Vゾーンだと考えられます。それはVゾーンが人の視線が最も集まる顔付近に位置している為です。そしてVゾーンが上半身における印象を形成するポイントだとしたら、下半身で印象を形作るのが靴だと考えています。
Given these facts, the biggest point that making impression to the people in gentlemen’s dress fashion is thought to be the dressed chest. That is because the dressed chest is located near the face where the human gaze is most concentrated. And if the dressed chest is the point that forms the impression in the upper body, I think that shoes are the one that makes the impression in the lower body.
つまり、装い全体でバランスを整えることが美しい装いをするにあたって重要であるとしたら、上半身と下半身のドレス度を揃えてあげることが、美しい装いを実現するにあたっては必要であると言うことになります。
In other words, considering that it is important to balance the entire attire beautifully, it is necessary to match the level of dress in the attire between the upper body and lower body in order to achieve a attire beautifully.
だから私はネクタイでドレスカラーを用いたのであれば、靴にもドレスカラーの靴を選び、カジュアルな色のネクタイを選んだ際には、それに合わせて靴の色もカジュアルにすることで、装い全体のバランスを整えるようにしています。
So if I used a dress color in my tie, I would choose dress-colored shoes for my shoes, and if I choose a casual-colored tie, I would also select casual-colored shoes to balance the whole attire.
